4. Use the Multi-controller or Quick Control dial to highlight D+ and then press Set.

Highlight Tone Priority is enabled. When you enable Highlight Tone Priority, you see a D+ in the LCD panel and in the viewfinder.

Enabling Highlight Alert

If you don’t want to use Highlight Priority to ensure that highlights in images are not blown out, you can enable an option to show blown out highlights as a blinking overlay on images you review. When you see the blinking highlights, affectionately known as “Blinkies,” use Exposure Compensation to banish the dreaded “Blinkies” to infinity and beyond. To enable Highlight Alert:

1. Press the Menu button.

The previously used menu displays.

2. Use the Multi-controller to navigate to the Playback Settings 3 tab.

3. Use the Multi-controller or Quick Control dial to highlight the Highlight Alert Option (see the left side of Figure 6-27) and then press Set.

The Highlight Alert options are displayed.
